Self-portrait with Bliss. Just a forester and his dog.
We took a walk around the property on this blustery day. Here’s a gallery of our pack. Just click on a picture to enlarge.
Bliss and Tasha enjoyed a day at work.
It’s her first birthday. For a while we didn’t think she’d make it to this one. We’re sure happy she did. Click on a picture to see the full-sized gallery. Sorry there are so many photos, but it’s hard not to take her picture.
If you missed her mushroom ordeal you can read about it here:

Mary gave me a new sketchbook for Christmas, so the other day I did a lunch sketch of a sweet, sleeping Bliss.
Me: “Hey Bliss I sketched you while you were snoozing. Take a look.”
Me: “Well, what do you think?”
Bliss: “Sniff, sniff.”
Bliss: “Rarr Rarr Ruff!!!”
Me: “Everyone’s a critic. Maybe next time I’ll let the sleeping dog lie.”
My very good friends Jan and Chris requested otters for this weeks Wild Wednesday. So that’s what they get, otters! Plus as a bonus, Golden Retrievers, since they have a pack of goldens of their own.
I had to visit one of our loggers the other day. My route took me through the little hamlet of French Gulch. It was settled during the Gold Rush, but you rarely see any rush around this sleepy little town these days.
We also enjoyed some rain. They say El Nino is coming and we’re hoping so.
It’s August in California, with our typical forecast for this time of year, “sunny with 100% chance of SMOKE!” Large forest fires are burning up and down the state. The smoke is inescapable.
Bliss is a forester’s dog and this was her first day at work.
It’s her job to go to the woods. There’s no time like the present to start training her.
On her first day she got to play in numerous rivers and visit the redwoods. Not bad for a day one. I documented her day in the gallery below.
