Mary and I recently returned from a long road trip. We were on a mission to pick up our newest pack member, Phanny, while visiting our friends in Montana. We decided to make a week of it and enjoy the western sights with Sailor, Tasha, and Bliss. Starting in California, we crossed Nevada and Idaho to reach our destination in central Montana. Here’s a gallery of some sights along the way. Click on the pictures to enlarge them.

We stopped to do a little rockhounding on the way. At this Idaho site the ground was littered with agate. We also dug up geodes here.
There were little clumps of wildflowers starting to bloom among the agates.
Phanny decide the desert was good place to run and frolic!

At a stop near Rye Patch Reservoir to stretch their legs, Sailor wanted to explore every smell.

He will be working in tourism industry, but it’s all a part of a college Christian ministry and leadership program.

Very cool. So he’ll learn all the great places to visit. Mom might have visit him after he’s been there for awhile. 😆

Oh no! I forgot to post pictures of the deer. Then we could have had where the deer and antelope play. I’m slipping.

Thanks for showing us the road trip photos Tim. That one of Mary and the dogs is an absolute classic. Not to mention the shot of the Tetons!

Isn’t it! Why must they insist on playing on our feet and between our legs? I guess they just want to include us in the fun.

My cat also likes to play that way, specially now as I am temporarily using a walking stick post knee surgery.

Beautiful! My brother and sister-in-law made a trip like this two years ago. A puppy makes it even better! (K)

It’s fun and little Phanny was a very good traveler. Now that she is home she’s a total hellion. She already broke a lamp this morning.

It looks like fun was had by all – and continues on at home. You’ve got quite a nice pack there. I’m sure Bliss will take her big sister status seriously and show her the ropes.

We had a great time. Bliss loves the puppy! She thinks the puppy was just for her. Sailor and Tasha are starting to warm up to Phanny, but they still get a bit grumpy.

What a great trip Tim – a good long driving/camping trip across the US is on the agenda for us, hopefully not too far off! Such beautiful scenery, and I guess the only way to travel when you have a herd of dogs with you!

We love traveling with our trailer. It’s our favorite way to go. We like taking the remote routes. If you do make a trip out here and and end up in Northern California, let us know. We’d love a visit with you.

I’d love to take you up on that Tim! It will probably be in a couple of years time, but I very much want to see your part of the world, and the remote parts are always the bits we love the best.
