That is a beautiful heart-warming image! The lupines here in Ecuador are grown for their ‘chocho’ bean, which is prized for its protein content… often it’s in bloom when the quinoa is ready for harvest, and the two often mingle in the same fields.. beautiful pairing of colors…

Both are cultivated, but quinoa is native to the Andes. Not sure about ‘chocho’ but I suspect since it’s a major part of their diet and comfort food, surely its history stretches way back as well.
