“Blitz” Redtail’s Rogue Lightening SH
Mary and I couldn’t have asked for a better companion than Blitz. She grew to be the perfect dog. She rode shotgun with me for over seven years traveling the back roads of Northern California. Featuring her in my blog posts felt a little like cheating because she was so lovable. Here is her life in pictures. Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Blitz passed from our lives last Friday. We miss her dearly. Your comments are welcome and appreciated, but we probably won’t respond to them. Please don’t take offense.
The silence of a falling star
lights up a purple sky
and as I wonder where you are
I’m so lonesome I could cry
Reblogged this on Sneaking Bliss and commented:
Somewhere between the tears, we’re holding tight to the joy she gave…we miss her so much…
I don’t know what to say but I felt in my heart, she was a happy dog with her family. Tears into my words now. Love, nia
Heavy heart, tears. Bless you Blitz
Yes, tears into the heart now, tears into the words. We miss ours pets as if they were a person, because always so beautiful the love given and got. Blitz was so happy with your family and the happyness we have shared is a gift for ever. A soul is into Blitz and is alive for ever.
I’m sure no words could ever convey what you are all feeling at this moment. A wonderful being who gave you great joy – strength to you all.
I feel terribly sorry for your loss, Tim. What a gorgeous dog. Blitz obviously had a wonderful time together with you and Mary and gave you a lot of joy and happy times. My heartfelt condolences.
Tim, I hope it will be a bit of comfort for you and Mary to realize that Blitz will hardly notice the difference between his earthy life with you and dog-heaven. What a perfect life he had with your family.
When one of our pets dies, we still feel it around us for some time. I always wonder how much is phantom pain and how much is the loyal pet trying to whisper ‘I’m fine’.
Oh Tim and Mary I’m so sorry to hear about Blitz passing on to a new heavenly place .
I know she was a superstar in your lives as a wonderful friend and working companion .
It’s been so lovely to share her life through your photos alongside you in your blog xx ..
Very sad for you both . I know the feeling well .
I’m so sorry for your loss. I still miss my shepherd from about 15 years ago. He was my boy before I got married and had kids. Had him until my kids were about second and forth grade. I have had a few other dogs since then and none have had my heart until recently. I have a new shepherd puppy and she has my heart. I understand your pain and hope you find some comfort.
Even though I knew where this was going, and I usually avoid these because I get emotional, I kept reading and viewing. You have so honoured your dog with magnificent photos that the happy times overcome the sadness of the passing. Thanks for showing us all how to honour our dogs and their service to us.
Oh, so sorry! I’m beginning to think we should learn to enjoy tortoises for companions, as they’re the ones that might possibly outlive us. Otherwise, it’s an agreement when we take them in, that we will love our dogs unconditionally…and see them live their entire life. It’s always so hard. My thoughts are with you.
Too young. So sorry for your loss.
Having had many goldens, I have come to accept that our cherished animals come and bring joy in our hearts — and then they pass — always too fast. This is sooo hard! You have my most cherished thoughts with you -)
“Because of the dog’s joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”
― Mary Oliver, Dog Songs
Be gentle with yourselves in this time of grief.
What a wonderful tribute to your Blitz. The memories that you shared will be in your heart for life. You and Mary have showed everyone what true companionship is all about with your love for Blitz and all of your other wonderful goldens. They were so lucky to have such a wonderful life with both of you.
Oh, so very sorry for your loss. Clearly, you and family adored Blitz. And, I’m sure she adored you all right back.
Great sadness, so enjoyed seeing Blitz on yours and Mary’s blogs – with heavy heart I’m very sorry to read the sad news.
I’m very sorry… I often say that it’s not fair that they live such short lives [compared to us that is]. I know how hard this is but I think she’s in that perfect doggy paradise with lots of love and treats!
Oh my god…i am so sad…i was a fan of her…you know…So sorry my friend….
I am so sorry and sad…
So sorry for your loss, Tim. Blitz was so beautiful and no doubt she was a happy member of your family. My most sincere condolences. ❤
Oh, I am so sorry to read this. It was so wonderful to have met Blitz through your blog. She was like the punctuation marks for your stories. It is so hard, missing our 4 footed companions. You will meet your dear canine friends again someday.
Tim and Mary, Sad Sad Sad for your great loss thinking about you all looking at the great pictures here above.
