We didn’t know it yet, but Bliss was one sick puppy. She had chewed a toxic mushroom in the morning. In the afternoon we knew something was wrong and headed for the vet.

Being a forester’s dog is exhausting.

When we got home she had to go back into the hospital.
Me: “Well, what do you think?” Bliss: “Sniff, sniff.”

Bliss is helping with the log quality control. She offer to take care of the tiny log and left me the big ones.

Blitz and Teka came too. There were lots of dogs in attendance.
It must have hurt to be that cute. Makes me kind of misty.

Blitz decided she would just wait in the truck during. She figured the bear would be full after a yummy forester meal.

I had a companion on this day. Tessa, our friends dog got to be a forester’s dog for a day.

After a security sweep by Blitz it was determined that this log deck was clear of ferocious jack rabbits.
Blitz is happiest while doing her work.
Blitz chills after an exhausting day of events. “Don’t get up Blitz, but I need to get into the refrigerator!”
Oh my gosh!! Every one of these was wonderful! That first picture of Nellie is still a favorite that I’ve seen here. There are five dogs in one picture. Did you really have five dogs at one time? We had four, but only have one left. I pine for more dogs. Blaze and Hunter up close are adorable, I love Blaze on the truck cab, and your artwork is so good. Really enjoyable, Tim.
We have actually had many more. I just haven’t had time to make a post about them all. Now we are down to two dogs, Blitz and Nellie, but we have our guest dog Teka for a few more months..
I am curious and maybe this was posted before I found your blog. What caused Nellie to be so ill. One more question. Have any of your dogs been bitten by a rattler?
I just come from Yvonne who posted a poem for you. Pictures of your dogs are wonderful. I lost two of my dogs recently, Lady was 7 and Fanny who died in January 14. I still have a little fellow of 12 years’ old. I am glad I found your blog
Your dogs are lovely. They have lovely color!!! In Sweden our Goldens are usually much lighter. It is a nice combination: dogs an watercolors 🙂 Like that!
Thanks you so much. We definitely favor the red golden retrievers. Our dogs are hunting dogs and run in events. Most goldens that come from hunting lines here favor the darker colors, but there are many that are lighter too. We have raised them for many years and enjoy thier company enormously. I can see by your blog that you too enjoy your dogs very very much. 🙂
Lovely rich red coloured goldies, in UK they are more cream coloured, though we do get some real ‘goldies’ more the working strain as yours appear to be. lovely pictures with each one telling a story.

as a dog lover, my heart nearly stopped! I was ‘worried’ even though it was ages ago. Then you lost her, & I had tears in my eyes. I’m originally from the Pac NW logging country near Mt. St. Helens, so my ears perked up, when I saw ‘logging and dogs’ LOL
It’s true that most of us foresters have our dogs as traveling companions. I think because we work alone so much it’s nice to bring our buddy along. It’s never easy to lose them. They are our constant companions.

We bought a lighter Golden puppy a few years ago when our daughter first came to live with us out of foster care, but my husband and son are the ones who became obsessed with her. She is such an amazing dog. Yours are gorgeous.
Thanks Adrienne. We love them to death. We’ve been raising goldens for over 30 years and they’ve ruined me for other dogs. Although, your little spaniel is a character!
