Friday was another difficult day in Redding as the Carr Fire continued to spread. Overnight the fire grew toward the southwest near Igo and to the north of French Gulch.

We moved from tornado country to wildfire country, and I’m still grappling with the way I handle fire.. Wildfire is so frightening. Even though part of my mind knows it can be beneficial and the land will heal, I have trouble not agonizing over the impact to wildlife, homes and the land. Thinking of you, and all affected by this.

Yes, I understand. I struggle with that on difficult posts too. I’ve gotten to the point that I will like a post if I appreciate it. However, there’s still the occasional post I can’t like for the same reason.

Indeed, but such tragedy. We have one evacuee with us and will probably have two more tomorrow. Plus two additional dogs.

Yes, such beauty from the destruction. The ash rains down from the sky like tiny memories of peoples lives.
