You nailed it Leonie. It’s a plover-like bird and the name comes from its call. It’s famous in these parts for its feigned broken wing ploy to lead predators away from its young.
Wonderful work! Every year, a nesting pair chooses to use a slight hollow in the gravel parking lot of our church as “home”, so now 4 plastic construction “cones” mark that specific spot during the nesting season… They are amazing birds, and your drawing does them beautiful justice!
