Old Dogs, New Dogs

It’s been almost a year since Blitz passed. Soon after, I did this portrait of her as a bit of art therapy.

Our new girl golden retriever puppy was born on the 6th. She will be coming home in about six weeks. I can’t wait.

It just so happens her Grandmother, Gracie, is staying with us for awhile. In fact, at this moment she is putting a stuffed toy wolverine in my lap and asking for me to throw it for her. She’s staying with us while I’m running her in the Junior Hunt Tests for her owner and personal friend, Sally. Blitz was Gracie’s cousin.

Gracie is schmoozing for a retrieve with a stuffed wolverine. I think the wolverine is well loved.

This weekend we attended the Marin Retriever Club Hunt Test in Corning, California. It was a double header and we ran dogs on Saturday and Sunday. Mary ran her Sailor, Sally ran her Bella and I ran Sally’s Gracie. Great fun was had by all, especially the dogs. Everybody qualified in both events.

  1. I am so happy for you guys!!! Yeah, now they are all cute and adorable ~ I can’t imagine how spoiled the pup will be! Will be a very special time at the Livingston’s house – please we all want pictures and lots of them.

I remember when Blitz passed and your beautiful portrait Tim – she was a special dog.

    • She will be spoiled with love, but she will also be very disciplined. It’s one of the best gifts you can give your dog. People love a polite dog. That being said, our house is like golden retriever summer camp. You know there will be lots of pictures. I haven’t had a dog to fill in for Blitz full time on my Forestry Friday posts. Now I will. šŸ™‚

I lost my little dog about a month ago and I am still very sad. https://villasavarymonvillage.wordpress.com/2015/01/27/le-chien-pilou-3/. A friend of mine painted my Pilou a few days after I posted the photo on the blog. I was very happy.
    Have a nice week Tim

    • Thank you so much Chatou. We are looking forward to meeting her very much.

I’m so sorry to hear that you lost your dear little friend. They are so precious to us, but what a wonderful gift from your friend. I find that the art doesn’t take away the sadness, but it does stir the good memories.

    • Oh yah! It’s going to be fun and I think Sailor will be thrilled. At least for a few hours. As for the cats, Raven and Delilah, I haven’t told them yet. In fact, better to not upset the apple cart wouldn’t you agree, oh mother of Ted. šŸ˜‰

  3. What a nice portrait of Bliss. I am sure she will always have a special place in your heart. How exciting to be getting a new member of the household. The old truck cab will be full again soon. I can’t wait to learn her name.

I’m glad your outing went well for everyone.
