The color is going on and the background is developing. Time to grow a forest. I’m well into the awkward phase and the quality of the photo isn’t very good.
It was a perfect day in the woods. I was visiting a more modern logging crew.

I don’t go back and forth to work anymore. But I imagine a lot of us never see what you see on your way. I mostly heard a lot of honking and saw a lot of fingers.

I’m not sure they could have even foreseen those things. We probably can’t even imagine some of the things that will be invented in 80 years.

It’s amazing to me how much the industry has changed in the last 100 years or so. Thanks for sharing this project and the beauty you see in your world. I’m glad you’re inspired to paint after a long day at work.

The changes are pretty amazing. So much of the equipment looks like it belongs in a Star Wars movie. But I always shake my head when I hear a news report about logging and the reporter is talking about “chopping” down trees.” We haven’t chopped down a tree for most of a hundred years! We saw them down.

It’s funny you say that. A properly anchored steam donkey would be capable of dragging that dozer backwards in a tug of war. Don’t underestimate the power of steam!

I drove a Hough 90 frontend loader while in the military. Only for a few weeks..lol

Those are a lot like our Cat front end loaders. I’ve run those a lot , but not the “shovels.” It would be fun to do though, wouldn’t it.
