Forestry Friday … Lodgepole Pine – En Plein Air

One advantage to having a truck for an office, is to take a few minutes in the woods during lunch to engage in a bit of en plein air sketching. En plein air is a french term meaning “in the open air.” It refers to painting or sketching in the outdoors.

  1. Tim,
On my screen, the photos looked like a collage until I clicked on one to enlarge it. Then I got a closer look and I discovered a bit of information tucked away. What a nice surprise.

Getting to spend part of your lunch break sketching the great outdoors is a terrific way to enjoy your time. I’m glad your truck takes you to sites that inspire you to draw and photograph and that you share them with us! Please keep it up.

  3. The pen and ink is so good! I took the time to click and enlarge your photos, Tim. I enjoy everything you share about forestry. I’m learning so much I did not know. In winter, I so enjoy watching the Juncos that come here. I’m pretty sure they are not from Oregon, but still. What a busy little bird.

  4. Beautiful ink drawing Tim. I did not know you were using the expression “en plein air” in California! I loved your pictures specially enlarging them. I realise you write what it is about on each picture. That’s great! And I learned how to recognize a male cone of the pine.
